The Atlantic Coast Conservancy, located at 72 South Main Street, will host a Green Drinks social and education evening, Thursday April 25th, from 5-7 p.m.

The featured speaker is Melissa Hopkinson, a Lecturer of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of North Georgia. She teaches courses on Weather and Climate, Physical Geography, and Oceanography. She earned her Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, where she studied past climate change. Her research involved the analysis of air bubbles in ice cores to determine climatic and oceanographic conditions during the last Ice Age.

Dr. Hopkinson will speak about the science of climate change and will focus on the work of the Georgia Climate Project, a collaborative effort across the state to improve the understanding of climate impacts and solutions in Georgia.

The will be the inaugural event in the Green Drinks series at the recently completed ACC office on South Main Street. It is a free event. Local wine will be served.
